An Open Question

What are your opinions regarding a monthly story exercise in which I (or anyone, actually) post an image of a new hero or villain for others to submit a story of?

Submissions would not only be open to regular Legion Authors, but to anyone who wishes to submit a story. There would be no requirement to continue the story-line, so these could be viewed as one-time submissions.

Entries would NOT be directly posted to the Legion Blog. Instead, they would be submitted to a new email address* I created until official posting, which would be during the first week of each new month.

Any thoughts or feelings on this?

Please let me know. This is still time to run a contest before the first week of June - assuming others like this idea.

email address*
The email address for making submissions is: legionblog@ymail.com.

That sounds like a great idea. I'm still catching up on reading everyone's stories and trying to get #4 of mine done.

Nah. I'd rather focus on actually writing my own character story. Which I have been rather lazy about lately.

It sounds like a great idea but I wonder if we need a bigger reservoir of potential writers to draw on before we start this?

Oh wow. A committee of superheroes. I hope saving the world is on your agenda. We need you! Who but a superhero could flip a house? clean a moat? make an (expensive) house out of one small room? Then again, maybe you could hurl the whole house of commons into space and let us start again.

If you can take the time off from saving the world, please come over and check out my blog. My first book is published in about two weeks... I could do with some superadvice on how to stay supercalm...

Hi Leigh. Um, this is going to be difficult.

While I understand your position, and even sympathize with it, at the same time we don't want this blog to become an advertisement for other blogs. I wish I could put it real nice, but I truthfully don't know how.

We do love it that you come here and, in fact, have just put something in place which might suit you.

For those who submit regularly, we have added Legion Headquarters. Each Author has their own page, and on these pages it is perfectly appropriate to add information about publications, honors, etc.

Why not join the blog? If you could even make one submission in a month you would qualify to have your announcements posted in Legion Headquarters.

Let us know. Okay?

Sounds like a good dip-innable feature and I'd certainly give it a go when I've more time, but as FH says, maybe we need to expand our legionhood a little before this matures into a goer?

Thanks for the feedback, all.

Part of what I was hoping to do with this idea was to inspire some Readers to become Writers, at least occasionally. That's why I created the email account to receive submissions. Not everyone who would like to submit a story wants to be a full-fledged member of the Legion.

Not that you all don't write great, but having more Authors takes the pressure to write off everyone. And that should add to the creativity. That's also my intent by creating Legion Headquarters. We are part of a team, but individuals within the team.

I'll hold off implementing this for now as that seems to be the consensus. Will look for another idea.

My only concern was whether we have enough Readers yet to make it viable. There are eleven of us following it. Do you have a counter on this site to know how many visitors it gets?

Thanks to Bevie for all the time and effort you've put into this!
I don't know how you manage it!
I think you've already executed your suggestion - I seem to recall seeing some more villians/heros lurking about.

It certainly doesn't hurt, who knows, someone might be really motivated.

I've been online for a bit trying to catch up with stories, I think I got them all . . . time to read more about Java!
